Devara X review: Fans ‘blown away’ by Jr NTR’s performance, but disappointed by VFX

Devara Part 1, starring Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, hit the theatres on Friday, September 27. The film, which marks Jr NTR’s first solo release in six years, opened to impressive reviews on social media. While a section of fans showered praise on Jr NTR’s acting and Koratala Siva’s direction, others were disappointed by the VFX used in the actioner.
Devara Part 1 had shows as early as 1 am and 4 am in Andhra Pradesh. Those who have watched the film shared their reviews on their respective X handles. Directed by Koratala Siva, Devara: Part 1 features Jr NTR in dual roles.
One social media user reviewed the high-octane actioner and called it an ‘overall excellent movie’. She hailed the film’s first -half and stated getting ‘pure goosebumps’. However, she expressed her disappointment with the film’s background score and VFX. She wrote, “What! A screenplay/story with poor BGM and VFX (sic).”
Another X user praised the film and expressed a desire to re-watch it, “Just finished watching #Devara and I’m blown away! The visuals, the action, the performances and everything is top-notch. #JrNTR absolutely delivers a powerhouse performance. This is shaping up to be the next big South Indian blockbuster, right up there with Baahubali. Can’t wait to see it again (sic).”
A third user wrote, “For the first time @tarak9999 breaks the mighty SSR curse. Hits it out of the park with #Devara #KoratalaShiva is back and how Ani (Anirudh Ravichander) boy rocked big time and is a huge asset to the movie. #JrNTR explodes on the screen and u have to witness it yourself (sic).”
Another member of the audience wrote, “Devara revolutionises Indian cinema! This cinematic masterpiece shatters expectations, surpassing Bollywood’s biggest hits! Breathtaking 1st half & goosebump-inducing final 20 minutes! JR NTR’s magnum opus (sic).”
A fan from Orissa shared his experience of watching Devara in his state. He wrote, “JR NTR doesn’t have any strong fandom in Odisha, but the people here know the mass cinematic Marvel of South Cinemas. The crowd was insane here in the theatre (sic).”
Devara: Part 1 is generating significant buzz and has impressive advance ticket sales. It is poised for a successful worldwide opening. It is produced by Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, with presentation by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram.
